The Hyperion Theater is located at Disney California Adventure, in the Hollywood Land area, adjacent to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It currently presents ''Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular''. The theater can seat up to 1,984 people. The facade is modelled after that of the Los Angeles Theatre on LA's Broadway. ==History== The Hyperion Theater originally opened with the park on February 8, 2001. Its first show was Disney's ''Steps in Time''. Later that year, the ''Power of Blast'', a scaled down version of the musical ''Blast!'' was created for the theater. The ''Power of Blast!'' closed in fall 2002 to make room for the current musical, ''Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular'', inspired by the 1992 animated film. The show premiered on January 16, 2003 and takes advantage of the wide space they have and uses the aisles for parades and the ceiling for a flying carpet. Originally, during the Disney California Adventure Park expansion, it was to close down the ''Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular'' and replace it with Toy Story the Musical, similar to the version on the Disney Cruise Line. However, it was later announced that the plans were cancelled and ''Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular'' would remain in its current location. The Theater remained unchanged during the park's re-expansion project. Originally, Disney anticipated holding large-scale events and awards shows at this theater. However, a cost-cutting decision during construction to strip the theater of a proper lobby or bathrooms within the theater prevented this from taking place. Guests must leave the theater (in some cases descending from the third story) and walk to an adjoining rest room. The theater held the world premiere for Disney's ''The Lone Ranger'' on June 22, 2013.
